Presentation: Challenges to MPA Enforcement on a State Level 

Not all MPA’s are created equal in terms of impacts to sensitive or vulnerable resources by non-compliance. Given that as a backdrop, presenters will discuss “identifying the risk factors” - a necessary element in MPA design and evaluation of law enforcement need to ensure MPA goals are met. Presenters will also discuss the components of a successful regulatory landscape.

Biography:

Mike Cenci is the Deputy Chief of Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Law Enforcement Bureau, overseeing 134 general authority law enforcement officers. He has been protecting natural resources for two decades, primarily in the marine environment.
