Presentation: The Relationship Between Social Marketing, Behavior Change, and Enforcement

Dive deep into the relationship between social marketing, behavior change and enforcement & surveillance by exploring how to engage communities in patrols, how to remove the “tragedy of the commons” to achieve behavior change, and how to have effective communications training for patrol teams (conflict resolution/ educative enforcement/ body language).

Biography:

Eleanor joined Rare in July 2010, bringing with her considerable experience in protected area management, strategic planning & implementation from her work in Africa, Asia, the Pacific & Indian Ocean regions. Formerly Senior Advisor to TNCs Indonesia Marine Program and Coral Triangle Center, Eleanor has extensive field based experience in all aspects of marine protected area (MPA) management, outreach and communications, the convergence of environment & development agenda’s and a passion for taking initiatives from paper to practice. She has worked with a number of different sectors in conservation, from National level Government departments to locally based civil society organizations. Eleanor spent six years in Zanzibar, East Africa, developing and managing the first financially self-sustaining MPA in Africa (the award winning Chumbe Island), and was awarded a distinction-level MPhil in Environment & Development from the University of Cambridge UK.
